TESOROS Spanish course runs on the following operating systems; WINDOWS 98, XP and VISTA. It also runs on Mac OS IX and X. For correct running under Mac OS X you should re-install the operating system and request it to use applications and / or files created with Mac OS X.
Back to the list of questionsDoes it have voice recognition?
No. When TESOROS was being developed, various tests were held with voice recognisers which showed us that they are still not very effective. These tools make excessive and constant corrections, and the pupil who is starting to learn a language can easily lose heart by feeling that he or she is not making progress in their learning. Tesoros does provide a RECORDING function, in which the student can compare his or her recording with that of the computer as many times as they want and record their voice until they think it is as similar as possible to the example. The last file recorded is saved on the student’s computer so that if he or she has a teacher, they can make the necessary corrections. With TESOROS Online v2.7 students have a Chat Lounge, with telephone access via web cam, in which the teacher can make the necessary corrections and indications to achieve the relevant phonetic objectives.
Back to the list of questionsAre there any videos?
No. Animations appear in the form of coloured animated comics that are always updated. However, several videos are being edited for the Online version of Tesoros v2.7, as a complement for the course and not as study matter.
Back to the list of questionsAre there advantages for the teachers who use it in their classes?
Yes. The TESOROS ONLINE v2.7 Spanish course includes exams for every lesson and self-evaluations so that students can practise before taking the exams. These exams are at the disposal of the teachers who use the DVD-ROM version, in PDF format and in the download area of the web page: www.tesoros.es In addition, with this version of TESOROS, teachers can give classes from a distance and / or with semi-presence. In the official web page of the TESOROS Spanish course, www.tesoros.es , teachers and pupils will find updates, news and links to Spanish related resources.
Back to the list of questionsHow can the teacher see which exercises have or have not been done by the pupils?
The DVD-ROM version has a Statistics tool, with which the teacher can simply see what exercises have or have not been done, as well as the percentage of correct answers. With the Online version, assessment of the different activities appears thanks to the development in accordance with the SCORM procedure.
Back to the list of questionsI want to learn Spanish by myself, Is Tesoros right for me?
Yes. The DVD-ROM version of Tesoros provides all the necessary tools so that the self-taught pupil can achieve all his or her objectives for learning in a pleasant, effective and complete way.
Back to the list of questionsIs printed material included?
Any of the Tesoros versions is a Multimedia method. The printed support material is limited to the support book (in the case of the DVD-ROM) and to the exams that are provided. Unlike other methods, the total study load comes on the DVD or in the intranet where it is installed, thus leaving work with printed materials on a secondary plane.
Back to the list of questionsAre there other levels?
No. For the time being Tesoros only covers the Initial Level of learning Spanish.
Back to the list of questions Is it a Spanish course from Spain?
The TESOROS Spanish course puts a wide selection of accents from the Hispanic world at the student’s disposal, not only in the dialogues of the comics but also in the dictionary phrases and history comprehension exercises.
Back to the list of questionsIs an accreditation or title obtained?
No. Tesoros en cualquiera de sus versiones le aporta al alumno conocimientos suficientes para superar los exámenes oficiales de nivel Inicial, pero no otorga ningún tipo de titulación.
Back to the list of questionsWhat study load does it involve?

Back to the list of questions What skills are developed?
The TESOROS Spanish course is developed in such a way that the student achieves reading and hearing comprehension, writing practice and becomes familiar with the phonetics (listening and speaking) of Spanish.
Back to the list of questionsIs there a dictionary?
Yes. The TESOROS Spanish course is accompanied by an ideological dictionary for semantic fields, with more than 5,000 words. All the words are grouped into semantic fields and sub-fields, so that a word can be learnt together with other related ones and not in an isolated manner. The dictionary is: • Spanish / English • Spanish / French • Spanish / Italian • Spanish / German • Spanish / Portuguese (Brazilian) This dictionary does not give definitions of the words, but graphic and sonorous representation together with how it is written in Spanish and the mother language (English, French, German, Italian and Portuguese).
